In some cultures, especially in places where extended family structures dominate, the moment you start earning, you’re no longer a man — you become a source. The "Good Morning" texts turn into "I need help" calls. And just like that, your dreams become suffocated by daily emergency requests.

No capital. No rest. No space to think.
You love your people, but the truth is this:

They will not free you.

Let’s not romanticize it: leaving your people hurts.
But sometimes, God Himself initiates that separation.

Because your growth, your destiny, and your calling might not survive the environment you were born into.

Sometimes, it's not witchcraft or poverty holding you down - it's emotional entanglement with your background.

God wasn’t punishing Abraham. He was positioning him.

“A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives…” - Mark 6:4

When you're surrounded by people who only see the old version of you, it’s hard to transform.

They believe you owe them just because you're succeeding.

3. When They Greet You, They Add You

• Then, it’s "You’re the only one we have."
• Next, your name becomes “ATM” in family group chats.

Suddenly, you’re no longer building your own life —
You’re maintaining other people’s irresponsibility.

How will you leave an inheritance if you’re only surviving?

4. You Must Build in Obscurity First

Sometimes, God isolates you to develop you.

Jesus spent 30 years in silence before doing 3 years of work that changed the world.

Stop feeling guilty for entering a season of focused hiding.

Many Christian men were raised to obey and serve, but never to lead or own.

So when retirement comes, they realize they only learned how to:

• Fit into systems built by others

You need to learn the word “NO” as a spiritual weapon.

You are not their Jehovah Jireh.

Your assignment is to build, not to bleed for people who won’t change.

 While we preach giving as a core Christian principle, wisdom profits to direct. You cannot eat your seed and expect a harvest.

7. Be Strategic Like Joseph

Joseph loved his family - but he didn’t bring them into Egypt until the time was right.

He didn’t send all his salary to them while he was still in Potiphar’s house.

He rose to power first, then structured help.
Not random help. Structured help.

That’s leadership - not blind giving.

1. Obey the Separation If God Commands It

• God told Abraham to leave so he could become a nation.
• Some of you are broke not because you're lazy—but because you're surrounded.

• Instead of spraying “urgent money,” fund that small side hustle.
• Buy land, not more "aso-ebi."
